School Council Elections  May 2015

During last half term, each class in school has been preparing for our School Council Elections. First of all, the Class Councils met and discussed how the School Council Elections would work.

The children then had to think about what qualities would make a good leader and representative on the School Council. Anyone who wanted to stand for election had to give a presentation speech to the his/her class before the elections could be held on Friday 22nd May.

Mrs Clark was a presiding officer for the General Election so we were very lucky to be able to draw on her expertise in ensuring that our election was run correctly! Mrs Clark set up our Polling Station in the school hall and Isabel acted as the presiding officer, issuing the ballot papers and ensuring that everyone followed the rules .  All the children came to cast their votes before the ballot boxes were promptly returned to the office for counting. Phoebe and Lauren did an excellent job as returning officers, counting the ballot papers carefully and checking that every paper was correctly completed.

After an anxious wait, (and recount as the voting was close) the results were finally announced at 3:25pm.

Our new School Council Representatives are:

Year 1: Toby, Year 2: Georgia, Year 3: Harry, Year 4: Hattie, Year 5: Sophia, Year 6: Maddie, Hannah, Erin
