KS1 & KS2 Assessments
KS1 & KS2 Statutory Assessments 2016
As you know, all children at the end of KS2, (Year 6) and KS1 (Year 2) are assessed against a number of statutory areas. The assessment process involves the children taking part in national tests as well as ongoing assessment in school by the class teachers.
Following the introduction of a new National Curriculum, there have been changes to the tests for both Key Stages. Follow the link below, to download an information leaflet for parents and to view a short video from the Department for Education, which gives information on these changes.
Statutory Teacher Assessment
In addition to the national tests, all children are assessed for Maths, English, (including speaking and listening) and Science throughout the year. Writing assessment is based on a range of children’s writing completed throughout Year 6 and Year 2.
Class teachers will still be making these assessments after the national tests have taken place as teacher assessments are not finalised until the end of June.
At the end of the year, the teacher assessment levels, as well as the levels achieved in the externally marked tests, will be reported to parents as part of the end of year school report.
