Home Learning Thursday 1st March

Good morning! I am sure the children will thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to play in the snow today! As we are on the second day of closure (I can't recall a time when that has happened previously) it would be helpful for the children to complete some Home-Learning today.

It is officially World Book Day today so what better way to warm up after a day in the snow than to share a story with an adult and then write a short review or design a bookmark to share with others at school? There are templates here you might like to use:

We will display the reviews and bookmarks in school next week when our travelling book fair arrives.

Foundation Stage

Please try one or two of the following activities:

Measure the snow depth/length of icicles with Lego blocks, wooden bricks etc

Write 2/3 sentences about what you have done in the snow.

Make paper snowflakes (We enjoyed making these on Tuesday afternoon) Can the children remember how to make them and explain to someone else?

Draw a picture of a snowman and label him/her.

Class 3

Please have a look on My Maths for some work on fractions & percentages.

Click here for some Reasoning Problems.

Mr Duffy would also like you to design and create an advert for a "Super Snow Shifter" to clear the roads for teachers when it snows. Focus on persuading the reader as to why it is important for schools to stay open.

There will also be a task to complete on spag.com.

Class 2

Please take the opportunity to learn your lines and the songs for Wilbur and the Web, so that we can try to run through it on Monday afternoon without scripts. Think carefully about the tone of your voice and your body language. Try to draw a picture of yourself in costume, labelling what you will need.

Use today to practise your number sequencing or times tables targets.

You might like to do this week's home learning today. It is due in next Wednesday. Your challenge is to use any style of art you like to create a picture of an imaginary planet in a distant solar system.

If you have time, annotate your picture with information about your planet.

Be creative and have fun!

Measure and record the depth of the snow. we will use your measurements back at school within a Science session! (All) You could measure and record the depth of snow in lots of different places around you! Is the depth the same?

Write a story or poem about the snow/ the Beast from the East to share with the class. I will be looking at your use of adjectives (describing words)!(All)

You could make your own book for the poem/story you write and add illustrations.

We are learning about healthy eating and what makes a balanced diet. Find out about what makes a balanced diet and create a poster to share with the class? (All)
